E-Liquid Cigarettes

All the symptoms related to untimely leaks of E-liquids

This unpleasant sensation of E-Liquid dripping on the fingers and the clothes, we know very well. We also know how frustrating it can be when you start smoking cessation, a period during which you have everything but need to be upset.

MY ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE LEAKS! WHY?

A RESISTANCE NOT ADAPTED TO HIS STYLE OF VAPE

It is important to determine your style of vaping to choose the value of your resistance. Indeed, a vaper who is used to vaping in direct inhalation (DL)  will not use the same resistances as a vaper focused on indirect inhalation (MTL). This parameter plays a crucial role in the leakage phenomenon.

Whether your electronic cigarette has adjustment modes or not, it is advisable to choose a resistance adapted to your draw mode.

Let’s take the example of a resistance that is too powerful for a vaper focused on indirect inhaling. This resistance being adapted to a powerful suction for a full lung inhalation, a vaper accustomed to indirect inhalation will not inhale strongly enough to ventilate the resistance well, which will quickly lead to its overheating, followed by leaks and/or rising liquid.

Conversely, if the vaper inhales too intensely with too little resistance, the e-liquid which has not had time to vaporize will arrive in liquid form in the vaper’s mouth or will flow through the openings due to too much pressure. In this case, do not hesitate to completely open your Airflow system to reduce the pressure.

AN E-LIQUID TOO FLUID WITH A HIGH PG RATE

An E-Liquid is made up of several elements including  Propylene Glycol (PG)  and  Vegetable Glycerin (VG). An E-Liquid with a high percentage of Propylene Glycol (example: 70/30 PG/VG) will have a fairly fluid consistency and must be used on high impedance coils, otherwise, it will leak. The higher the level of Vegetable Glycerin, the more viscous and thicker the E-Liquid. This viscosity will require the use of a powerful resistor, equipped with more or less wide liquid inlets.

If you use an E-Liquid with a high rate of PG and your electronic cigarette leaks, likely, your E-Liquid is not suitable for your material, because it is too fluid. Prefer the use of E Liquids thicker type 30/70 or 40/60 PG/VG.

PINCHED OR DEFECTIVE GASKETS, REGULAR MAINTENANCE IS REQUIRED!

Your electronic cigarette requires regular maintenance to ensure its proper functioning over the long term. Over time, certain parasitic elements such as grains of dust or sand can disrupt the operation of your equipment and affect its sealing.

Get into the habit of maintaining your equipment by dismantling it to carry out a  major cleaning  (except for the resistance). To do so, do not hesitate to consult our tutorial: How to clean my electronic cigarette (available on our blog).

Following this operation,  check the integrity of the seals of your electronic cigarette. These can be damaged or simply pinched, letting the E-Liquid flow out in several places. Most manufacturers provide replacement seals in their e-cigarette kits. If you notice that your seals are defective, take a look in the box of your equipment, you may have a good surprise

AN ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR A LONG TIME

Your electronic cigarette has spent a while in the closet and you decide to reuse it? We encourage you to do so, but on the condition that you change your resistance and give it a good clean-up.

Indeed, if the resistance of your electronic cigarette is bathed for a moment in its E-Liquid without having been used, you risk having unpleasant surprises in terms of flavour and liquid splashes.

Change your resistance, taking care to soak it with a few drops of e-liquid, to restart your electronic cigarette.

LEAKS DUE TO ALTITUDE

Air travel, winter sports,  you are rather addicted to it but your electronic cigarette is much less of a fan! These leaks are due to changes in atmospheric pressure which induce expansion of the air in your tank. The E-Liquid, therefore, seeks to escape by all means from your tank.

Do not upset Mother Nature and remember to empty your tank before your next flight. If nevertheless, you decide to take the risk, take it preferably with a clearomiser equipped with an  Airflow located in the upper part.

This phenomenon sometimes also affects the sealing of E-Liquid bottles! Carry them in an airtight plastic bag to best protect your clothes or other electronic devices.

AN ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE IN FULL SUN, IT TRANSPIRES!

The E-Liquid contained in the reservoir of your clearomiser does not support strong heat and  UV rays very well. The consequences are multiple: impact on the nicotine dosage (weakened) and fluidification of the E-Liquid. The product becoming more and more liquid can therefore start to flow along with your Airflow, provided that it is in the lower part.

Protect your electronic cigarette by keeping it away from the sun and strong sources of heat.

AN INCORRECTLY INSTALLED HEATER

Whether they have screw threads or not, the resistors compatible with your electronic cigarette must be correctly installed to guarantee the tightness of your equipment. So remember to push or screw your resistance correctly  (without forcing) on its location to avoid unpleasant surprises during use.

WHAT TO DO AGAINST E-LIQUID LIQUIDS AND SPILLS?

ANTI-LEAK CLEAROMIZERS, DO THEY EXIST?

As we have seen previously, many factors can explain the origin of these pesky leaks that ruin our lives. However,  there are clearomizers as well as all-in-one electronic cigarettes that are particularly effective against leakage problems.

Discover our selection of  Anti-Leak Clearomisers on our online store.

CLEAROMIZERS EQUIPPED WITH A TOP AIRFLOW

A Top Airflow? It is an aeration system located in the upper part of a clearomizer. Like you, your E-Liquid is subject to the law of gravity and can, depending on the context, leak through the lower openings of your clearomiser.

Clearomisers equipped with a Top Airflow are generally more reliable in the face of the problem of leaks.

POD-TYPE ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES

Pods are modern, all-in-one electronic cigarettes with cartridge systems.

Among these cartridges, there are systems for filling from the top of the side, greatly limiting the risk of leakage.

We sometimes observe a phenomenon of seepage in this type of device, which nevertheless remains quite benign and incomparable compared to a significant flow of E-Liquid.
